This Privacy Policy explains how Investing Universe ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our Service.
2. Information We Collect
- Account information: name, email address, and password (hashed) when you sign up. Optional profile photo/avatar.
- Profile data: display name, username, bio, onboarding preferences (investment goals), and avatar selection.
- Usage data: features you use, AI chat messages, AI portfolio reviews, watchlists, portfolio and net-worth entries, paper-trading activity, screener filters, risk quiz answers, bull/bear predictions, trivia scores, badge progress, and similar self-directed inputs you save.
- Notification preferences: email subscriptions, watchlist price alerts, and unsubscribe choices.
- Payment data: processed securely by our payment provider (Stripe). We do not store full card numbers — only subscription status, plan tier, and billing history.
- Technical data: browser type, device, IP address, approximate location, and cookies for session management and analytics.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
- To process subscriptions and payments.
- To personalize your experience (e.g. showing your name).
- To respond to support requests.
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party services to operate the platform:
- Supabase — authentication, database hosting, and row-level security.
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription management.
- Google — optional OAuth sign-in and Google Analytics 4 for website analytics.
- Financial Modeling Prep — market data, stock prices, fundamentals, and financial information.
- AI providers — to power Universe AI chat and AI Portfolio Review. Chat messages and portfolio data may be sent to these providers to generate responses.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We only share data with the third-party services listed above as necessary to operate the Service, or when required by law.
6. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and row-level access controls. No system is 100% secure — please use a strong, unique password.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data.
Delete your account: You can delete your account and all associated data at any time. If you're signed in, go to your Profile → Delete Account. If you're not signed in, you can still request deletion by visiting our Delete Account page. You can also email us at contact@theinvestinguniverse.com and we will process your request within 30 days.
8. Cookies & Analytics
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We also use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use our platform — this includes anonymised page views, session duration, and feature usage. You can decline non-essential tracking via our cookie consent banner. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
9. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may delete your account and associated data at any time via your Profile → Delete Account settings, or by visiting our Delete Account page. You may also request deletion by emailing us. Some data may be retained in backups for a limited period or as required by law.

10. International Data Transfers
Your data may be stored and processed in Australia, the United States, or other countries where our service providers operate. By using the Service, you consent to these transfers. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data.

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe we have collected data from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
